The natural dye Water Soluble Carmine 50% in powder, is one of the most used red dyes in the food industry thanks to its excellent characteristics and properties.
The raw material for the elaboration of this natural dye is the cochineal, it is reproduced on the leaves of a native cactus of the American continent, the nopal or also whose scientific name is Opuntia ficus-indica.
The water-soluble carmine 50% powder is called E120 in the food industry and is used in products such as meat products, syrups, jams, jellies, industrial cakes, canned vegetables, ice cream and dairy products such as strawberry or red fruit yogurts, in drinks such as soft drinks, fruit and energy drinks.
This natural colorant has the classification FD&C of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) of the United States and is included in the list of additives of the European Economic Community (current European Union) under the parameters of permitted toxicity
It is probably the dye with the best technological characteristics among the natural ones in those foods to which a very pleasant red colour is added.
